About the Site
I enjoy creating content, sharing my views, and opening up discussion space for people with similar interests. But when I pondered the idea of creating a wrestling site, I wondered what I had to contribute to the scene. Sure, I’m more active than armchair wrestling fans who watch RAW and Smackdown on TV and then call it a day. I like going out to see my fair share of exciting, live wrestling. I normally attend 6-12 wrestling events a year. But, that’s a lot less frequent than some of the area’s most hardcore fans that attend a wrestling show or two every weekend. I guess that gives me some leftover time to maintain this web site and have other healthy interests and hobbies.
On September 28, 2008, I launched Wrestling Respect. The site was created with the intention of focusing on New England-based promotions plus Ring of Honor, Chikara, TNA, WWE, and all other organizations that run shows in the region. New England has a vibrant independent pro wrestling scene with wrestling events held almost every weekend. I reached out to the local promoters and asked them to include my e-mail address whenever they sent out an e-mail blast. Otherwise, I just keep my eyes open for new show announcements and add them the database. One area that I have lots of experience with is conducting interviews with singers, producers, musicians, etc., but not with pro wrestlers. Since I already have the recording equipment, the passion and experience broadcasting and podcasting, and a desire to speak to the people I’ve enjoying watching live, on TV, and on the internet, why not start a wrestling podcast? So audio interviews have become a big part of the site and probably one of the top reasons you’re here. I also created a forum which I hope will host vibrant, fun, and respectful discussion.
Wrestling Respect?
I respect the wrestlers who put their bodies at risk to entertain the fans. I respect the psychology that powers the performers to improvise and deliver exciting matches full of unexpected twists and turns. I respect those behind the scenes who risk their money and donate their time to promote shows and make it possible for there to be an industry. With this point of reference, I decided on the name Wrestling Respect to set the tone for all of the site’s content.
